Sustainable Retail Practices – Ocado’s Refillable Packaging Trial

In August 2024, Ocado Retail, a prominent UK online supermarket, initiated a trial offering everyday products in refillable packaging, marking a significant step towards sustainability.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲:

Ocado introduced reusable containers pre-filled with staple items such as basmati rice and penne pasta. 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗿𝗲𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗢𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝘂𝗽𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆. • 𝘌𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵: Each reusable container can replace up to five single-use packages and is designed for more than 60 uses, significantly reducing plastic waste.
